On November 4, 2015 the RM of East St. Paul announced a new Handi-Transit service for area residents in cooperation with Wheelchair Service of Manitoba.
This program provides transportation for residents who cannot use other modes of transport due to mobility or visual impairments.
Application
To qualify for Handi-Transit services, please complete and submit an application to the Municipality. Applications may be dropped off at the Administration Officer, 1-3021 Birds Hill Road or emailed to administration@eaststpaul.com.
The application will be reviewed to ensure the applicant meets the pre-established user criteria. If/when accepted, the user will be provided a "user card". This user number will be recorded into the Wheelchair Service of Manitoba's database. All information provided by the applicants will be kept private and confidential.
User Limits
Riders are limited to two (2) round-trips per week. This may include trips to Winnipeg, though service fees will vary depending on the length of the trip.
Priority will be given to riders requiring transportation to medical appointments, then shopping trips.
Secondary priority will be given to those using the service for visiting trips or to recreational activities.
Handi-Transit Services are available Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6 pm.
Trips must be booked 24 hours in advance of travel, and must originate from within RM of East St. Paul boundaries.
Funding for the Handi-Transit service is provided by the provincial government’s Mobility Disadvantaged Transportation Program as well by the RM of East St. Paul.
