Royal Canadian Legion - Lions Club - Knights of Columbus
The Royal Canadian Legion Henderson Highway Branch No.215
One of the principles on which The Royal Canadian Legion was founded is a solemn remembrance of Canadians who gave their lives so our nation might be free. Their most important responsibility is maintaining the tradition of Remembrance in Canada. The Annual Poppy-Remembrance Campaign is an opportunity to remind Canadians of the men and women who died during military service. It is also the major public fund-raising blitz for the Legion--money raised from the poppy campaign can only be used for ex-service personnel and their dependents or community service projects.
Membership: All are welcome. Anyone can become a fraternal member without being a veteran. Call any of the contact people listed below for more information.

The Lions Club of East St. Paul
The East St. Paul Lions Club held its Charter Night on June 27, 1996, with thirty-five members. There are presently fifty members who meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM for a Dinner Meeting at the Henderson Highway Legion at 3600 DeVries Avenue. The Board of Directors meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at the same location.
The international objectives of the Lions is to create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world; to promote the principles of good government and good citizenship; to take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community; to unite the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding; to provide a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; and to encourage service-minded people to service their community without personal financial reward, promoting high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavors.
Programs: The Lions Sight-First Program strives to rid the world of preventable and reversible blindness by closing the gap between existing health care services and those that remain desperately needed. They contribute to establishing long-term solutions in health care infrastructure, training of eye care professionals, treatment and public education.
We as a club are actively involved in eyeglass collection in our area for distribution to those less fortunate and in need around the world. We have various fundraising activities that enable us to donate to various programs such as: Guide Dogs of Canada, Lions Eye Bank, Lions Quest, Lions Cavalcade, to name a few.
This year the need to support others in a humanitarian way was never more evident. We as a club, contributed $2,000.00 dedicated to Tsunami Relief. All funds collected by the Lions International go directly to the needy victims. Nothing is spent on administration costs.
Our club is also in the process of building a non-profit Lions Housing Condo located on Hoddinott Road. We believe this is a needed facility in our community as it continues to grow. Condos allow for more people to remain in the community with hassle-free living and for them to enjoy the natural beauty of our area. For more information on Lions Housing, call Harry at 667-1640.
Lions make a strong service commitment to young people through several international programs such as Lions-Quest, a drug abuse prevention curriculum; Leo Clubs which offers community service activities and supports a special Literacy and Culture project; Youth Exchange where students travel to foreign countries and live with host families to experience cultures different from their own; and youth camps for disadvantaged and disabled youths to learn to better understand themselves and to positively accept the challenges they face.
The Lions Clubs International Foundation disperses funds for humanitarian services, disaster relief and vocational assistance.
