Mayor Shelley Hart along with members of East St. Paul council voiced their approval for the appointment of St. Paul MLA Ron Schuler today as Minister of Infrastructure.

"I’m very pleased to offer my congratulations to Minister Schuler on his appointment this morning as the provincial Minister of Infrastructure. As a long-serving member of the Manitoba Legislature, he is a deserving recipient of this cabinet posting,” Mayor Hart said.

"Minister Schuler has always had a strong working relationship with East St. Paul, and as a member of the community he knows the RM very well. I’m confident he will do his best for St. Paul, and all of Manitoba, in his new position.”

Ron Schuler was elected as the MLA for St. Paul in 1999 and re-elected in 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2016. Since 2016, Schuler served as Minister of Crown services.

Schuler is a graduate of the University of Manitoba with a degree in international relations and has served as a trustee with the River East School Division. An entrepreneur, former small-business owner and community volunteer, he has devoted his time to organizations like Big Brothers, Citizens on Patrol, Max Reinhardt Theatre Canada and the Manitoba Inter-cultural Council.

Premier Brian Pallister announced changes to the provincial cabinet today to assure a stronger focus on key government priorities in preparation for the fall legislative session.

"This fine-tuning of our cabinet team will allow our government to focus more effectively on the priorities of Manitobans,” Pallister said.

"I am very satisfied with the integrity and commitment of our cabinet and caucus, and the progress we have made to fix our finances, repair our services and rebuild our economy.  We are meeting the challenges we were elected to tackle.  This is the right team for the next phase of our mandate.”
