When the Sky Roars, Go Indoors
June , July and August are the most active months for severe weather

WATCHES vs WARNINGS

Severe Thunderstorm Watch means:   there is a potential for a severe thunderstorm - BE ALERT

Severe Thunderstorm Warning means:  severe thunderstorms will soon occur or are occurring. Maintain shelter 30 minutes after the last rumble of thunder - TAKE ACTION

A Tornado Warning is issued if Doppler Radar identifies chances of a tornado or credible reports are received.
  • Tornadoes usually move from the southwest to the northeast
  • The best shelter is a well constructed basement
  • Avoid crawl spaces
  • Avoid shopping malls or arenas
  • Have as many walls as possible between you and the outside.
