Market Opening to Honour Kruszelnicki Family

When the East St. Paul Farmers Market reopens for the season on June 11 at 10:00 a.m., a ceremony will be held to pay tribute to the market gardeners who worked the land before the market came to be last year.

Mayor Shelley Hart says during opening ceremonies, the Kruszelnicki family - including Joseph, Anna and their son Harry - will be honoured with the site being dedicated in their memory.

The Kruszelnicki family previously owned the land where the Farmers Market is located and were pioneering market gardeners there for years.

The Kruszelnicki family moved from Narol to Hoddinott Road in 1945.  There were very few residents of the road at that time and Harry and Joseph cleared the land and began a market garden that the family ran for decades.  It only ceased to operate when Harry became ill a few years prior to his passing in 2011.

Members of the Kruszelnicki family will be on hand for the ceremony and everyone is invited to attend.
