East St. Paul Flood Update #3

Posted: March 31, 2017

The Rural Municipality of East St. Paul is advising residents that the Red River is rising rapidly. The Red River is expected to crest upstream of the Floodway April 4th to April 5th. The municipality has experienced river levels higher than the present forecast and although there is reason to take flood prevention measures, forecasted river levels are manageable for municipal staff. Municipal staff will monitor river levels on a continuous basis and will continue to do so until the river has reached its peak and starts to recede.

Residents living along the river should move or secure any structures or equipment near the water’s edge including sheds, docks, recreational equipment and gazebos.

Residents are advised to inspect backup valves and sump pumps to ensure they are functioning properly.

Residents in flood prone areas will be kept up to date on Red River conditions as the municipality receives them. All major updates that may affect residents in low lying areas will be hand delivered to their residence.

Please see all additional updates posted on the municipal website, email, twitter and face book social media accounts.

Warning to all Residents:

Please take all precautions and ensure children and pets are kept away from the Red River, creeks and municipal drains due to high water levels and strong currents.
