East St. Paul Receives Community Emergency Preparedness Award
Posted: December 28, 2016
The R.M. of East St. Paul was one of three communities in Manitoba being awarded for our emergency preparedness program by the Province of Manitoba. The award recognizes the dedicated efforts and accomplishments of communities in developing emergency preparedness programs to protect residents, the environment, infrastructure, property and economies.
The R.M. has a 15 member Emergency Preparedness Committee comprised of elected officials, municipal managers, municipal employees, RCMP personnel and volunteers. The continual planning and training for emergency preparedness is the hallmark of our program. Over the past 24 months, the committee; in conjunction with outside agencies, has conducted two large scale emergency training simulations to ensure that our program is comprehensive and successful to deal with emergency situations.
A special thanks to Dennis Wiwcharyk, the R.M.'s Emergency Measures Coordinator, and those committee members who continue to make our program a success.
