It's Fire Prevention Week - Don't Wait:  Check the Date!

Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years

The East St. Paul Fire Department will be at the Sobeys store in Bird’s Hill on Saturday, Oct. 15 with the Fire Safety Trailer, from 11am to 3pm.

The Fire Safety Trailer is a teaching tool that can simulate various emergency situations, such as a smoke-filled room, and members teach young people what to do in those situations.

The trailer will be at Sobeys as part of Fire Prevention Week, which runs from Oct. 9-15. This year’s theme is ‘Don’t Wait: Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years’.

East St. Paul Firefighter and Fire Prevention Officer Bob Ezinicki, said the department will also have an apparatus display at Sobeys, and will have a barbecue as well.

Ezinicki said the department has distributed pamphlets with fire safety information to all area schools and will visit the East St. Paul Senior Centre twice this week, on Oct. 11 and 12, to talk with seniors about fire prevention and take smoke detector supply requests.
