ESP Farmers Market - Official Opening a Resounding Success
Posted: July 8, 2016
It had been one of the most anticipated events in East St. Paul – and it did not disappoint. On Sunday, July 3rd, more than 1,000 people attended the opening day of the East St. Paul Farmers Market which has a permanent home at the East St. Paul Recreation Complex on Hoddinott Road.
The official opening of the event began with remarks from Mayor Shelley Hart and the Hon. Ron Schuler, MLA for St. Paul, but it was special guest Sylvia Kuzyk who took centre stage. Kuzyk spoke of her experience as a broadcaster and the sense of community she saw demonstrated throughout Manitoba. With the official ribbon cutting ceremony complete, the market was in full swing.

With an array of vendors and a theme which required them to Make it, Bake it, or Grow it, there was something for everyone – produce, baking, crafts, preserves, bison products, knife sharpening and candles. Activities for kids were on site and several food trucks gave shoppers the opportunity to stop for a bite.

"We could not be more pleased with the success of the market’s opening day,” Mayor Shelley Hart said. "The sense of community that was present and expressed by those in attendance today convinces us that the vision we had for this event has been met.”
The Farmers Market will continue every Sunday, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm until September. If you would like more information on how to become involved, contact the ESP Recreation Programmer, Tyne Mills, at (204) 668-8336 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
