Legion New Year's Levee celebrated

On Jan. 1, the Royal Canadian Legion Henderson Highway Branch No. 215
hosted its 2016 New Year's Levée.
These receptions are traditionally held by
government and military organizations on New Year's Day to mark the start of
another year and to provide an opportunity for the public to pay their
Official program highlights included the introduction of the 2016 Branch
Executive Committee including new President, Cde. Gord Machej and members of
the Ladies Auxiliary Executive Committee including President Cde. June Leveque.
Branch Padre Cde. Ted Nimik led a special dedication of the McLeod lounge
improvements which have been made over the past year. These improvements include new flooring,
painting, new chairs, improved washrooms and the military remembrance murals.
East St. Paul Mayor Shelley Hart and Hon. MaryAnn Mihychuk, Member of
Parliament for Kildonan St. Paul brought greetings on behalf of the community.
After the official program, the Ladies Auxiliary served a light lunch
with entertainment by River East Collegiate students Monique Gauthier and Cuinn
A new mural commemorating the efforts of Canada's armed forces has also been installed at the Royal Canadian Legion Henderson Highway Branch No. 215.
