East St. Paul Coun. Charles Posthumus, East St. Paul Mayor Shelley Hart, East St. Paul Community Club President Nancy Plustwa and 55+ Activity Centre President Susanne Sulkers take in the annual Appreciation Dinner.

Volunteers and seniors attended a dinner on Nov. 28 at the East St. Paul Arena banquet hall, to honour their service to the East St. Paul community at large.

Invitees to the Appreciation Dinner included members of the 55+ Activity Centre, Community Club executive, conveners and special events volunteers (Tournament of Aces & Prairie Classic soccer tournament), Curling Club executive and conveners and members of the Citizens on Patrol Program (COPP).

East St. Paul Mayor Shelley Hart and Couns. Brian Duval and Charles Posthumus represented the R.M. at the dinner. Hart brought greetings on behalf of Council and highlighted the contributions of each group. She acknowledged the outstanding contributions made by Community Club President Nancy Plustwa who works so many hours each week she thought she was a full time employee.

"The improvements to the facilities and programs have come about because of Nancy's commitment and energy," Hart said.

The dinner was organized by R.M. of East St. Paul staff, Plustwa and President of the 55+ Activity Centre Susanne Sulkers.

Plustwa and COPP co-ordinator Corey DesJarlais also brought greetings on behalf of those organizations.  DesJarlais acknowledged one of their members for the hours of volunteer time they have contributed. Eleanor Johnston was recognized for her more than 10 years of service to COPP.
