Highway 101 Detour in effect
Posted: November 26, 2015
Traffic on Highway 101 is now being rerouted due to the construction on a new interchange at Highways 59 and 101 (North Perimeter Highway). This may cause travel delays, particularly during peak travel times in the morning and evening rush hour. Parts of Sperring Avenue are now temporarily closed, as this road is required for the Highway 101 detour.
EASTBOUND HIGHWAY 101
This detour will be in effect within a week.
There will only be one eastbound lane on Highway 101 east of Henderson Highway. Traffic will be rerouted on to a non-divided highway detour adjacent to Sperring Avenue. This may cause travel delays during peak times. Reduced speed limits will be in effect. Speed fines double in a construction zone.
If approaching from west of the Red River, one alternate route for local traffic is to take the Henderson Highway northbound exit and use Henderson Highway to reach the community. If approaching East St. Paul from Highway 59, Birds Hill Road and Pritchard Farm Road will remain open during this phase of construction.
For traffic heading on to Highway 59 north from Highway 101, stay on Highway 101 and use the detour.
WESTBOUND HIGHWAY 101
Detours are now in effect.
Traffic can still access Highway 101 either via the traffic lights north of the overpass or from the north using the existing exit. However, once on Highway 101, the two westbound lanes of traffic will then be rerouted at Raleigh Street to the detour adjacent to Sperring Avenue. This detour will not be a divided highway, and there will be two-way traffic on this section of road. Reduced speed limits will be in effect. Speed fines double in a construction zone. The detour ends before Henderson Highway.
