Happy 100th Birthday
Posted: November 3, 2015
Today, at a special meeting of the Rural Municipality of East St. Paul Council, councillors, past council members and dignitaries representing the vast history of the community gathered to commemorate a key milestone. On this day in 1915, the R.M of East St. Paul came into existence by an Act of the Manitoba Legislature. The RM of East. St. Paul was created after the R.M. of St. Paul expressed a desire earlier in 1915 to divide into two communities, using the Red River as a boundary.
"It is an honour for your Council to preside over the commemoration of the first 100 years of a community we all love,” East St. Paul Mayor Shelley Hart said. "As we kick off our year of celebrations, we hope past and present residents gather together to remember our strong history while creating a bright future for the next generation to enjoy.”
Throughout the upcoming months, several gatherings and events will take place to celebrate all that East St. Paul has to offer. We invite you to keep up to date on these activities as they are posted on the East St. Paul Centennial website, located at http://esp100.ca
