Posted: September 25, 2015

The RM of East St. Paul has an interest in this proposal as the majority of our municipal water is supplied by four wells in the immediate area. The wells are situated on provincial Crown lands in the RM of Springfield.
Near the end of August 2015, East St. Paul Council learned that Springfield Council would be hearing a proposal from Diamond construction to open the aggregate operation at their September 15, 2015, meeting. East St. Paul requested to appear as a delegation. Subsequently, we learned the item was not on the agenda but attended the meeting as scheduled where Mayor Hart made a presentation to Springfield Council.
In her presentation, Mayor Hart outlined:
- East St. Paul’s concerns
regarding ongoing access to clean, safe water;
- Potential development conditions
for consideration if Springfield approves the operation;
- A request to work closely with the RM of Springfield on this project so that the interests of both communities can be addressed.
days after Mayor Hart’s presentation to Springfield Council, we learned the RM
of Springfield had decided to host an Information Meeting regarding the
proposed project. East St. Paul has
registered to speak at this meeting and Mayor Hart will be making presentation
on behalf of the RM.
