The Mayor and Council are pleased to announce the appointment of our new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Bruce Schmidt. Bruce has replaced former CAO, Carol Oppermann who, after serving several years in East St Paul, officially retired on May 31, 2014.
Bruce has extensive senior management experience both in the private sector and public sector; including working for the RM of East St Paul for over 15 years as the Public Works Manager. In 2011, Bruce also took on the role of Assistant Chief Administrative Officer in which he worked closely with the CAO in the implementation and delivery of programs and services while ensuring the efficient and effective use of municipal resources.
Bruce’s work and volunteer experience have allowed him to provide leadership in a diversity of areas including financial management and budgeting, strategic planning, capital asset planning and project construction, community development, operational analysis and best practices, as well as customer service, communications and human resources management.
As part of a team based collaborative approach, he has worked with multiple stakeholders, staff, elected officials, business leaders, and members of the community in an array of strategic plans, programs, capital projects and initiatives in the delivery of municipal services.
Bruce has, and will continue to be, a valuable asset as our community grows and prospers.
