2014 Summer Flood Forecast – East St. Paul
The following is being published for the information of residents living in the Rural Municipality of East St. Paul as a result of the heavy rains the province received in the past few weeks.
The Province of Manitoba is reporting the Red River is expected to crest around 17.5 feet as measured at the James Street pumping station. Flood mitigation is not required in the municipality until the Red River reaches a level of 21.5 feet James. As a result, there is no need at the current time to undertake any flood fighting measures within our municipality.
Residents however are being warned to stay away from the Red River and any creeks draining into the river as the current is moving extremely fast and considered very dangerous at this point. Parents are asked to warn and keep watch over their children.
Further information on the summer flood can be obtained through the following link to the provincial website www.manitoba.ca/flooding.
The Emergency Response Committee will continue to monitor the situation in our municipality. If you have any questions, please contact the administration office and your question will be forwarded to the committee.
