Red River Basin Commission Public Session

The Red River Basin Commission’s North Chapter is holding a public session in the City of Selkirk, Manitoba, on the evening of February 20, 2014. This educational event will take place at the Gaynor Family Regional Library, located at 806 Manitoba Ave, at 7:00 pm.
The topic of the event is Flood Fighting on the Mighty Red. The overall purpose of this session is to present a comprehensive understanding of the issues surrounding flooding and some of the solutions available in Manitoba.
Attendees will learn:
- What is an Amphibex, and how it fights floods;
- When the 2014 flood fight will begin, and what the plan is;
- What actions are being taken to protect Manitobans from Red River flood waters in 2014.
The highlights of this evening include presentations by Darrell Kupchik, EMO Coordinator with the City of Selkirk and Executive Director of Operations at North Red Waterway Maintenance Inc., and Chris Propp, Senior Hydrological Operations Engineer with the Province of Manitoba.
There is no admission fee, and all are invited to attend this meeting.
