Councillor Corner
Ward 4 - Charles Posthumus

Welcome to summer! I am excited to see all of our residents enjoying the outdoors, whether that be spending time in your private homes or utilizing the many wonderful outdoor recreation opportunities our community has to offer. The community is certainly looking beautiful! I am proud to be serving the residents of Ward 4 and the residents of East St. Paul for the past four terms.

The 2021 East St. Paul budget has been completed and we have identified many projects for all of East St. Paul. I will be sharing some of the exciting projects to be completed in Ward 4 this year. All areas of Ward 4 will receive continued maintenance. Our summer students and regular staff have been very busy with regular maintenance and are doing a fantastic job keeping our RM looking awesome!

Wallace Avenue: Over the next few weeks Wallace Ave. will have a land drainage project completed, this includes the installation of culverts in the deeper ditches and ditch liners in the shallow ditches. Upon completion of the drainage project Wallace Ave. will be resurfaced.

Foxgrove Avenue: A solar powered crosswalk at the path going to Emerson School is being installed to improve the safety for our residents. In addition, stop signs have been installed at Foxgrove at Dundoon to assist in controlling traffic.

Sperring Avenue: A solar powered crosswalk will be installed at the Marconi Trail crossing at Sperring Ave. We recognized the high volume of pedestrian traffic on the trail and wanted to improve safety for vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

By The Park: We will be installing a new play structure on the open area by the pond. We are excited to see this area being developed for our residents. We will be installing solar aerators in the pond to assist with keeping the pond clean and the pond will also be getting floating treatment wetlands to help control the algae growth and reduce harmful nutrients.

Countryside Crossing: A water looping project is being installed to ensure that there will be no loss of water to the area should there be a water main break. The RM is looking at additional play structure equipment in the area.

Southlands: We will be installing solar aerators in the pond to assist with keeping the pond clean and the pond will also be getting floating wetlands to help control the algae growth and reduce harmful nutrients. A bench will be installed at the access trail off of Southlands Drive.

The Marconi trail will be receiving additional upgrades including destination rest spots which include trees, benches, interpretive signs and garbage and recycling bins. Trail users are reminded to keep the trail clean, in particular you are asked to clean up after your pets and use our waste bins to deposit the poop! We thank you for keeping our trail clean. The RM has completed the trail study and will be looking at the addition of new trails in the RM to tie into our existing trail network.

I thank the residents of East St. Paul for your continued support. I wish all residents a wonderful summer and look forward to serving the Ward 4 residents as their councillor and the RM as the Deputy Mayor. Should you have any questions or concerns I may be reached by phone at
