Fireworks Banned Until Further Notice

Posted: April 7, 2021

The following information is being provided to the residents of East St. Paul from your fire department.

Extremely dry conditions make the use of fireworks – which are not permitted in the RM without a permit – very dangerous.

Sale, storage and use of fireworks within the municipality is governed by BY-LAW #2020-06.  Under section 6.7 the by-law states:

Permit required – No person shall purchase fireworks, set off, or otherwise ignite any fireworks in or above the municipality except under a permit issued as per subsection 6.8 and in compliance with conditions contained in subsection 6.9.

Under subsection 6.8, the Fire Chief or designate may authorize permits allowing for the setting off of fireworks in conjunction of a proposed fireworks display.

A few weeks ago, a burn ban was implemented in the municipality due to the extremely dry conditions as a result of very low precipitation this past winter and fall of last year.

This past weekend the fire department responded to a grass fire call as a result of fireworks.   The fire department is seeking  your cooperation and asking residents not to set off any fireworks until further notice in order to prevent a fire from starting.

Grass/bush fires should not be taken lightly as they can cause significant property damage and injuries to people.

If you have any questions, please contact the administration office and someone will get back to you.

Thank you

East St. Paul Fire Department
