Dutch elm disease and emerald ash borer surveying to take place

Provincial Government surveyors from the Agriculture and Resource Development Forestry Branch will be in East St. Paul again this season conducting Dutch elm disease surveys and emerald ash borer monitoring.

Surveyors will be driving or walking and inspecting trees on both private and public properties. They will be wearing highly visible vests and carrying government issued identification. This year, due to COVID-19, they may also be wearing masks or other personal protective equipment.

They will be practising physical distancing and may not approach every resident or house before entering onto properties to conduct surveys; however, they will ring doorbells or knock on doors prior to taking branch samples, marking trees or identifying firewood piles for removal.

Provincial staff will remain at least two metres away from each other and they request that the public respect this distance as well.
