Imperial Oil doing environmental assessment on buffer land

Imperial Oil has been conducting environmental assessments on its buffer lands – 200 acres located adjacent to Raleigh Street in the RM of East St. Paul.  The land is owned by Imperial Oil, not the RM of East St. Paul.

Imperial Oil has reported that data collected at the site to date does not indicate a risk to public health and safety, or to the environment.

According to a statement from Imperial Oil, the intention is to eventually market the property for sale:

"Returning surplus properties to productive use is a priority for Imperial Oil.  In 2019, we spent more than $110 million on assessment, risk management, land remediation and reclamation activities resulting in 110 properties being put into productive use either via sale or lease returns.”

The assessment work will be ongoing during 2020 and could extend longer.
