High water levels on Red River expected to remain high

The RM of East St. Paul is advising residents living along the Red River to take preemptive measures to reduce the risk of injury or damage to homes and property.

Water levels are anticipated to remain high throughout the next week and residents are advised to:

  • Avoid riverbanks as they are expected to be slippery, with possible minor erosion

  • Avoid riverbanks due to cold, swift moving water.

  • Ensure children and pets are kept well away from the water.

  • Secure or remove any items or structures that are near the riverbank.

  • Secure or remove irrigation pumps and hoses.

  • Ensure sump pumps are in good working order.

  • Consider securing back-up pumping equipment.

  • Move valuable items to upper floors.

The municipality will advise residents of any new information as it becomes available on changes to Red River elevations.
