RM sponsored Coyote information session well attended, informative

The RM's 'Co-existing with Coyotes' seminar drew a crowd of around 100
to learn about the wild animals from Manitoba Conservation Staff
More than 100 people came out the evening of Oct. 29 to the East St. Paul arena banquet hall to hear a presentation called ‘Co-Existing with Coyotes’ by Manitoba Conservation staff.
Coyotes have been a concern in the RM and all of Manitoba for the past several years. Conservation Officer Sheldon Orvis and Human Wildlife Biologist Janine Stewart, along with East St. Paul Operations Manager Andrew Toews, spoke to the crowd.
They provided valuable tips to living with coyotes in our midst and informed the crowd that coyotes are here to stay and that we need to learn how to co-exist with them.
Provincial staff explained how difficult it is to remove coyotes from an area – it would in fact, take decades to succeed – making removal an impractical solution.
Members of the public were able to ask questions and it was a very informative evening.
