About 100 people came to listen to presentations by East St. Paul RCMP staff members and the COPP Co-ordinator on Nov. 2 in council chambers.

The Public Forum, arranged by East St. Paul Council, provided residents with an opportunity to ask questions directly and learn more about the RCMP’s role in our community.

The evening was a great success and people were eager to speak with the RCMP. Many were concerned with what they could personally do to safeguard themselves from crimes. There was plenty of great discussion that night, and for those who couldn’t attend, please click here to see a column written by Sgt. Tom Wallach in the June issue of Your Community – East St. Paul’s newsletter, called ‘Tips to safeguard against violent crimes’.

Some people signed up to become COPP members. If you’d like more information on joining ESP’s COPP, please contact Detlef Hindemith, East St. Paul co-ordinator, at 204-612-3465 or by email at eastspcopp@gmail.com.

The RM also has a new communication system to help residents stay informed on the latest news, events, weather and emergency alert messages from Canada’s national emergency alerting system – Alert Ready.

Sign up today at eaststpaul.com/register or by stopping by the RM office at Unit 1 – 3021 Birds Hill Rd., or call the Municipal Office at 204-668-8112.

A second RCMP Public Forum will be held again in the coming months. Watch the RM website, newsletter and social media for a date.
