Growing a Safer Community at the Farmers Market

Posted: August 19, 2019

ESP COPP Members Allan Andrusch, Ron Demski, Coordinator Detlef Hindemith

Members of East St Paul Citizen on Patrol Program (ESP COPP) were set up at the Farmers Market providing information on how residents can help grow a safer community. A number of residents signed up with COPP after realizing just how easy it is to participate in this rewarding safety initiative.

COPP is looking for more volunteers to help keep our community safe with a training session coming up very soon!  You don’t want to miss out if you are considering participating – here are some quick facts about the program:

  • Patrol anytime it fits your schedule, leave directly from your home
  • COPP members provide a visible presence patrolling the community by walking, bicycling or in a vehicle
  • COPP members’ role is observational, documenting and reporting questionable activities to the RCMP
  • Only 2 - 3 hours per month is the suggested time commitment
  • Members will receive training on what activities to watch for and reporting procedures
  • Snowbirds, retirees welcome
  • Vehicle reimbursement is available to offset fuel expenses
  • Recognized volunteer experience – especially for a law enforcement career, no special skills required
For additional information contact the ESP COPP Coordinator, Detlef Hindemith at (204) 612-3465 or eastspcopp@gmail.com
