Stay safe when snowmobiling

Stay safe when snowmobiling

Snowmobiling is permitted in parts of East St. Paul and we remind those who participate in the sport to be careful and aware of your surroundings.

Though it is permitted in parts of the RM, there are no groomed trails, therefore the trails are not marked for snowmobiling.  While some culverts are marked, those markings are for Public Works purposes, and not marked as hazards.

We want everyone to enjoy the winter season and strongly encourage all snowmobilers to operate their machines in a safe manner.

Changes were made to the snowmobile route in 2015 and Hoddinott Road and a short section of Mowat Road are no longer permitted routes.  Mowat from North Hill Drive to Degroot/Fahr Drain is still a snowmobile route.

The changes were made due to safety concerns for pedestrians along Hoddinott Road.  Pedestrian traffic has increased with the installation of lights along the sidewalk.

The section of Mowat Road north of Hoddinott was closed due to safety concerns for operators and riders.

The RM has two staging areas, one at 3021 Henderson Hwy, and the other is at the Benham Soccer Fields on Raleigh Street.

Manitoba Public Insurance has an online guide with information on basic regulations on where, how and when snowmobiles can be used.  Visit mpi.mb.ca for more information.
