Municipal News:  Securing Your Permit Secures Your Project

Do you know what home improvement projects need a permit – or why they’re required?

The Red River Planning District is ready with answers.

"Residential building permits aren’t just red tape,” says Jennifer Ferguson, RRPD’s executive director. "The permit approval and inspection process is to ensure that your project meets all necessary codes and regulations for both the current and future owners’ health and well-being.”

RRPD recently surveyed homeowners within the municipalities of St. Andrews, St. Clements, East St. Paul, West St. Paul, the City of Selkirk and the Village of Dunnottar to find out more about the projects homeowners were planning, and how to provide them with the information they need.

You can find the latest resources from RRPD at www.redriverplanning.com, including:

  • An all-new FAQ with answers to the questions we hear most
  • New videos with permit information for popular home improvement projects
  • Ask the Expert columns in the Selkirk Journal

RRPD Staff members are happy to help. Stop by with your questions, or just to say hello!

You can also contact the RRPD offices at info@rrpd.ca or (204) 482-3717 or toll-free at 1-800-876-5831.  Office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
