Another good year for Communities in Bloom wraps;
Awards ceremony set for September 7, 8

It was another busy year for East St. Paul's Communities in Bloom (CiB) committee, who, along with RM staff, dug in and helped beautify the community.
This year's projects included the Maple Leaf flower display in Memorial Park, butterfly garden, a compost and butterfly workshop at the Farmers Market and a shared garden between the 55+ Centre and the Day Care.
CiB also ran the Yard of the Week contest.
A big thank you goes out to the CiB sponsors, which include, East St. Paul Chamber of Commerce, Neighbours of East St. Paul magazine, Candice Semeniuk, Schriemer's Greenhouse, Newmann's Market, Sustainable Organic Solutions, Eco Green, Linda Storoschuk, Sunova Credit Union, Oakbank Credit Union, Debbie Hoydalo-Madilaras, Jonesy's Restaurant and Lounge, Birds Hill Store, Sobeys, 55+ Activity Centre, Spector Group Inc., and BMO Nesbitt Burns.

Communities in Bloom is a non-profit Canadian organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community involvement and the challenge of a national program, with a focus on enhancing green spaces in communities.
The Manitoba Communities in Bloom program provides a comprehensive evaluation beneficial to community development.  It encourages all sectors of the community to work together to develop best practices to achieve clean, green sustainable communities that celebrate their heritage and unique potential.
Last year, in East St. Paul's first time competing in the CiB contest, the RM was awarded 4 out of 5 Blooms and received the Canada 150 Special Edition Award with a 5 out of 5 Maple Leaf rating.
This year, judges toured the community on Aug. 1, visiting public spaces as well as a number of residents' homes with CiB members.  We will learn our Bloom rating at this year's Awards Ceremony, held on Sept. 7 & 8.
