Dry weather prompts ESP Fire Department to urge caution

The East St. Paul Fire Department is warning residents of East St. Paul that extremely dry conditions have brought on elevated fire hazards.

Open air burning, defined as a fire which is started outside of a fire pit or wood burning appliance, is only allowed by permit issued by the Fire Chief or designate.

A permit is not required for recreational fires, defined as burning of wood only in approved fire pits and wood burning appliances.

Burning yard waste, grass, leaves, papers, or household refuge is NOT PERMITTED.

Please ensure open air fire and recreational fires are supervised by an adult, and extinguished before leaving the site.

Thank you for your cooperation.
